The event began with a moment of remembrance for the National Leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev, as well as for the police officers who attained martyrdom in the defense of the territorial integrity of our Republic and those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Following this, on the occasion of the professional holiday, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov conveyed the heartfelt congratulations and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to the personnel.
In his speech, he highlighted the honourable and rich legacy of the Azerbaijani Police over the past 107 years, the valuable traditions established, and particularly the significant reforms carried out under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in organizing the activities of internal affairs bodies and strengthening them with nationally-minded, patriotic cadres.
He emphasized that thanks to the special attention and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, a strong and modern material-technical infrastructure has been established within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Structural reforms aligned with the demands of the times have been implemented, and systematic measures have been taken to enhance social protection of the personnel, improve professional training, and build operational-service activities upon the principles of ensuring citizen satisfaction.
He noted that the police, distinguished by their vital role in combating crime, including its transnational forms, and ensuring public order and security, continue to provide high-level protection of every individual’s legal interests, rights, and freedoms.
The personnel were reminded that qualities such as integrity, professionalism, and responsibility are of paramount importance in the precise and flawless performance of official duties. Priority tasks were outlined, including maintaining high crime detection rates, improving the prevention of legal violations, enhancing the ability of departments and units to operate effectively in complex conditions, and implementing additional measures to further optimize the overall function of public service.
It was underlined that, following our historic victory in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, new geopolitical realities have emerged in the region. In this context, the activities of police bodies, including the Internal Troops, have been adapted to the new circumstances in the liberated territories to support the realization of the “Great Return” initiative. Gratitude was expressed to the citizens who have always supported the internal affairs bodies in the execution of their duties, shared in the joy of Police Day, as well as to the veterans of the internal affairs system, heads and staff of government agencies, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and members of the media.
