Minister of Internal Affairs received the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan in connection with the termination of his mission

Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Vilayat Eyvazov received the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Ghulam Isaczai in connection with the termination of his mission in our country.

Greeting the guest, the Minister recalled the close cooperation between many UN agencies and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and mentioned that our country is a party to the relevant UN Conventions and Protocols on combating terrorism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, illegal migration and human trafficking and maintains fruitful cooperation with many special structures and bodies of the UNO. Mr. Eyvazov also emphasized that our republic contributes to more effective activities of this structure which is responsible for maintaining global peace and security.

The Minister noted that about 200 internal affairs officers of the Republic of Azerbaijan took an active part in various events held at the initiative of the UN in the republic and in other countries over the past 5 years.

Colonel General V. Eyvazov expressed his gratitude to Mr. Isaczai, having highly appreciated his contribution to enhancing this cooperation as well as to the development of the relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNO in the period of his mission in the country and wished every success in future activities.

Mr. Ghulam Isakzai expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and recalled that during his activity he has witnessed the large-scale construction work carried out in our country, sustainable development of the economy, successful solution of issues related to security in Azerbaijan, and adequate discharge of duties by the law enforcement agencies including the police in that direction. Mr. Isaczai once again expressed his confidence that the cooperation between the UN entities in Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs would continue to develop.
