A Celebration of Service to the People and the State

On the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Police, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel General Vilayət Eyvazov, together with the leadership of the Ministry, visited the Alley of Honor, where they laid a wreath at the memorial complex of the National Leader Heydər Əliyev. The memory of the distinguished ophthalmologist, academician Zərifə Əliyeva, was honored with deep respect.
They also visited the Alley of Martyrs, where the brave defenders who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic are laid to rest.
A ceremonial event dedicated to Police Day and the graduation of the 2025–2026 academic year was held at the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the memory of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydər Əliyev, as well as to the police officers who attained the rank of martyr in the struggle for the territorial integrity of the Republic and those who lost their lives while performing their official duties.
Congratulating the personnel on their professional holiday and conveying the congratulations and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Əliyev, Colonel General Vilayət Eyvazov spoke about the honorable and distinguished 108-year history of the Azerbaijan Police, the traditions it has established, and, in particular, the significant measures implemented during the periods when the National Leader Heydər Əliyev led the Republic to organize the activities of the internal affairs bodies and strengthen them with nationally minded patriotic personnel.
He noted that, thanks to the special attention and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Əliyev, a strong and modern material and technical base has been established within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, structural reforms required by the challenges of the modern era have been carried out, systematic measures have been implemented to strengthen the social protection of personnel and improve professional training, and operational and service activities have been organized on the principles of ensuring public satisfaction.
Addressing the importance of effectively carrying out such essential duties as the objective and sensitive examination of citizens' applications and complaints, safeguarding the rule of law, and ensuring compliance with ethical standards by personnel, the Minister emphasized that qualities such as integrity, principled conduct, and responsibility are of great importance in the accurate and flawless performance of official duties.
It was noted that, in combating crime, including its transnational forms, and in ensuring public order and security, the police authorities provide a high level of protection for the lawful interests, rights, and freedoms of every individual.
It was emphasized that, in order to accelerate the "Great Return" to the territories liberated from occupation, the activities of the police authorities, including the Internal Troops, have been adapted to the existing conditions, public order and security have been reliably ensured, and service continues with great dedication and professionalism.
The personnel were informed that maintaining a high crime clearance rate, further improving crime prevention, and implementing additional measures to ensure even more effective fulfillment of the overall function of serving the people remain the primary objectives.
Gratitude was expressed to the citizens who continuously assist the internal affairs bodies in the performance of their official duties and share in the celebration of the Police Day, as well as to veterans of the internal affairs bodies, heads and employees of state institutions, non-governmental organizations, and representatives of the media.
On behalf of the participants of the ceremony, Colonel General V. Eyvazov assured the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Əliyev, that the internal affairs bodies, always faithful to their oath, will continue to serve the Motherland and the people with honor, sparing no effort or ability in fulfilling this mission.
Emphasizing the special role of the Police Academy in educating a new generation of Azerbaijan Police officers with a modern outlook and in the spirit of love and service to the Motherland, the State, and the people, the Minister of Internal Affairs congratulated the graduates on completing their studies and presented honors diplomas to those who graduated from the Academy with the rank of Senior Lieutenant.
The ceremonial event concluded with the personnel marching solemnly past the grandstand.
