A regular meeting was held in the city of Lankaran on the 4th of September within the scope of bilateral cooperation of the delegations headed by Chief of the Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Major General Hazi Aslanov and Chief of the Drug Control Service of the Ministry of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Mohammad Zahedi.Police Major-general H.Aslanov told his Iranian colleagues about the fight against crime including illegal drug trafficking in our country as well as about operational-preventive measures and the results achieved.
The parties of the meeting emphasized positive results of the close cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries, noted that illegal drug trafficking is a concern to the friendly and neighboring nations and discussed the prospects for further development of exchange of information in this sphere.
Brigadier General Mohammad Zahedi stressed the importance of experience and information exchange in law enforcement activities and expressed interest in the cooperation with the Azerbaijani law-enforcement agencies including the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He also mentioned that such meetings would make their contribution to further expansion of relations between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the two states.
A number of other items of mutual interest were also discussed in the atmosphere of sincerity and cooperation of the meeting.
