On October 14, the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a Council board meeting dedicated to the search for accused and missing persons, the fight against illegal drug trafficking, the state of compensation for damages caused to citizens as a result of crimes and petty robberies, as well as the results of the 9th month of the current year.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov, who opened the meeting with an introductory speech, said that all three issues brought up for discussion are of great importance in the protection of fundamental human rights and protection of citizens' legitimate interests from criminal intent.
The chiefs of the relevant departments of the Ministry reported on the issues on the agenda and talked about the work done, the results achieved, the mistakes made and the progress of their elimination. It was noted that in 9 months of the current year, 81.4 percent of those wanted in the republic were caught and handed over for investigation. Approximately 90 percent of the damage caused to citizens as a result of criminal cases and petty robberies has been paid.
In that period, 293 kilograms more than the corresponding period of 2021, i.e. 3 tons of narcotic drugs with a total value of 40 million manats and more than 300 kilograms of psychotropic substances, including 241 facts related to the online sale of drugs, were determined and removed from illegal circulation. More than 1 ton of 400 kilograms of narcotics and psychotropic substances were removed. 113 criminal groups consisting of 289 people were neutralized by the operational measures.
Continuous work has also been carried out in the direction of prevention of illegal cultivation and wild spread of plants containing narcotic substances. Hemp and poppy bushes with a total weight of about 25 tons, as well as more than 166 tons of that type of plant grown were discovered and destroyed by the measures taken under the special operational plan.

Concluding the meeting, Minister V. Eyvazov emphasized that the tasks set for ensuring public order and public safety in the 9 months of the current year have been fully fulfilled, and the positive results achieved in the fight against crime and the protection of human rights and freedoms have been preserved during the reporting period. He expressed his gratitude to every person who demonstrated a high citizenship position in the fight against crime, transnational drug trafficking, including bloggers and other social activists, representatives of non-governmental organizations and members of the media.
In this regard, he also noted that up to 20 percent of the facts in the fight against the illegal circulation of drugs, as well as in the field of online sale of those drugs, were discovered based on the information of citizens and the perpetrators were exposed.
At the same time, focusing on the work done on the elimination of traffic density in the capital at a time when the number of traffic is increasing rapidly, the minister touched on the importance of removing cars that are illegally parked on the side of the roads and obstructing the normal flow of traffic, and eliminating other illegal situations, as well as strengthening the measures in this field in general. .
He defined the upcoming tasks related to the improvement of the Transport Intelligent Management System, including increasing its functionality, and gave a number of tasks to the heads of the relevant institutions. Also, he stressed the need to carry out measures to prevent environmental crimes and administrative errors in the relevant field, especially illegal logging and destruction of valuable trees.
In addition to all this, he drew attention to certain deficiencies and deficiencies in the activities of some territorial bodies and demanded the implementation of necessary measures to eliminate them, the strengthening of the rule of law, greater sensitivity to the problems and complaints of citizens, and the continuous provision of citizen satisfaction as a whole.
General-Colonel Vilayat Eyvazov expressed his confidence that the personnel will continue to cope with their responsible duties and assigned tasks properly, and will not spare their strength and ability in protecting the stability and peace of the country, the legal interests of the state and citizens from illegal acts.
