Based on the mutual agreement between the Ministers of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, joint comprehensive operational-search measures and preventive measures under the name of "Border" were held in the territory of the border regions of both countries from June 3 to 10 this year.
The main purpose of the operation was to carry out joint comprehensive organizational and practical activities in the field of detecting and neutralizing transnational organized criminal groups, identifying and preventing weapons, explosives and devices, and drugs as well as financial and material resources intended for the implementation of other illegal actions, and to implement decisions made on cross-border cooperation issues.

In the result of the measures conducted in the border regions of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation and the Gusar, Guba, Khachmaz, Zagatala, Sheki, Balakan, Gabala, Gakh and Oguz regions of our country, 31 wanted persons, including 16 wanted by the Russian Federation for committing various crimes, were arrested, 6 missing persons were found, 63 wanted debtors were detained.
Illegally possessed 8 automatic weapons, 2 grenade launchers, 1 machine gun, 6 pistols, 100 rifles, 37 grenades, 36 weapon crates, 23 grenade launchers, 15 different military equipment and ammunition, 7716 cartridges of different caliber were confiscated.

In the result of the operational-search measures, 13 facts related to drugs were detected, 10,753 hemp bushes of a total weight 5 tons were destroyed.
In addition, 5 different crimes committed in the territory of the border regions of our country were solved during the operation.
In general, it is planned to conduct such complex operational-search measures in the future with strict adherence to the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, in accordance with the national interests of both states and principles of legality.
