Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel General Ramil Usubov was on a 2-day official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the regular meeting of the Board of Internal Affairs Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries.
 At first, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the members of the Board of Internal Affairs Ministers (BIAM).
He emphasized the large-scale and comprehensive efforts made by the Board in combating terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, organized crime and trafficking in human beings as well as effective activities carried out by the organization for exchange of experience and information in the territory of CIS.
The meeting participants also discussed further extension of relations, carrying out of joint activities, staff training and other matters of mutual interests.
The meeting of the Board of Internal Affairs Ministers started on 31 May in the city of Tashkent.

Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Pulat Bobojonov opened the meeting by delivering the keynote speech and wished the BIAM meeting success.
Chairman of the Board, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic, Colonel General Ramil Usubov, delivered a detailed report on the work done by this organization during the year. It was mentioned that in the past year, efforts for increase of effectiveness of the cooperation among the  Internal Affairs Ministries of the member-states of the Board were actively carried out, and special attention was paid to the strengthening of relations between the Executive Committee of CIS and the specialized intersectoral bodies of this organization as well as to resolutions and tasks passed at the BIAM Baku meeting.
Then, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan took over the governance of the Board of Internal Affairs Ministers of CIS in accordance with the Regulations on the Board.
During the meeting, participants discussed the Concept of cooperation among MIAs of the CIS members states through 2030, the document which regulates carrying out of complex coordinated joint operational and preventive activities by the internal affairs bodies as well as the prevention of terrorism, extremism, illegal drug and arms trafficking, and organized crime in the territory of member-states.
Having delivered a report on priority issues of the cooperation of MIAs of the CIS member states and the course of implementation of the intergovernmental programs on crime control, R.Usubov emphasized the urgency of all meeting agenda items and their concordance with the realities and duties of today, and expressed confidence that the discussion would become a new impetus for further intensification and broadening of the cooperation.

He noted that in recent years thousands of grave crimes were solved, numerous organized transnational criminal groups were neutralized and dangerous criminals were apprehended and extradited through close cooperation of the relevant departments of MIAs of the BIAM member-states.
Mr. Ramil Usubov spoke about the positive results of the resolute fight against crime in our country in recent years, overall situation with solution of crimes, including grave and especially grave crimes, downward trend in crimes, arrest of wanted persons, favorable criminal situation, measures taken in the field of protection of public order, and stressed the need to respond to new threats and challenges of international terrorism and transnational organized crime by joint efforts.
At the meeting held in the conditions of friendly and meaningful cooperation, relevant decisions were made on all planned issues.

The participants expressed their gratitude to President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the high assessment of the Board’s work, as well as to the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country for the high-level organization of the event and sincere hospitality.
The meeting closed with a press conference at which the heads of delegations answered journalists' questions.
