The Minister, welcoming the guests, provided detail information on the work done for ensuring the public order and on the tasks and duties of police before and during the elections. It was noted that for the purposes of preventing possible violations of law during the pre-election preparatory period and during the elections, ensuring that the elections are in conducted in a free and democratic environment in compliance with the requirements of the relevant laws, ensuring the protection and security of the presidential candidates, issuing identity documents to all citizens with voting right, and successfully accomplishing other tasks and duties, special Action Plan was developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and sent to local police authorities to be implemented.        
Along with the above mentioned, it was also stated that the raising the level of expertise and experience of the police officers, benefiting from the international experience is always focused on.

The European deputies were informed that the applications regarding the violation of civil and human rights and freedoms by police officers are efficiently considered and the relevant measures are taken, in consequence of which, during the last 5 years and six months of the current year, 1407 officers were punished for rude treatment, arbitrary retention, detention, prosecution, illegal search, various violations against the parties to the process, generally for violations of civil rights. As the result of such and other appropriate measures, during the last year, the number of the complaints against police officers reduced by 26 percent, including the complaints regarding the breach of human rights by 45 percent, complaints to Ombudsman by 2 times.           

The Minister of Internal Affairs assured the guests that during the elections the police will successfully accomplish all the tasks and duties laid upon it by the law.  
Mr. Robert Walter and the other members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Special Committee`s Pre-election Mission expressed their appreciation for warm welcome and detailed information.   
During the meeting, the parties exchanged their views on a number of other issues of common interest and the Minister gave detailed answers to the questions of the members of the Pre-election Mission.
