On November 23, Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, general - colonel Ramil Usubov has met the ambassador of Egypt in the country Yusef Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Sharkawi. As is informed from the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Minister, having noted the meeting which took place at the request of the ambassador, that as a result of personal efforts of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the President of Egypt Mohammed Hosni Mubarak, bilateral relations between two countries have passed big way of development, ascertained, that the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attaches special significance to the further deepening of these relations. The Minister has emphasized, that the Arab Republic of Egypt, one of the first that recognized independence of Azerbaijan, always supports position of Azerbaijan on international arena. Minister Ramil Usubov has noted, that in May 1996, between the Azerbaijan Republic and the Arab Republic of Egypt, has been signed the "Cooperation agreement on safety", and for discussion of the execution of positions of the given document concerning powers of law-enforcement bodies, on the invitation of the Minister of Internal Affairs, general Habib Ibrahim Al-Adili from November 5 till November 9, 1998, he was in this country with official visit. General - Colonel R. Usubov with feeling of gratitude has reminded that during visit, the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mohammed Hosni Mubarak rendered him hearty welcome, and that he also became the witness of the brotherly links of Egyptian people to Azerbaijan. Having stopped on combat of the Azerbaijan police against criminality, the Minister has noted, that criminal condition in the country completely is under the control. Ambassador Yusef Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Sharkawi, having thanked for warm reception and the detailed information, has noted, that the internal stability created in the country represents great value not only for Azerbaijan, but also for its friends, including Egypt. The Egyptian diplomat also has touched the parliamentary elections carried out on November 6, having noted, that elections were democratic, transparent and fair. At the meeting, also discussed were questions representing mutual interest. |
