The results of 6 months were discussed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs

On July 12, the Interior Ministry held a board meeting dedicated to the results of operational activities of the service and the upcoming tasks in 6 months of 2024.

Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov, Minister of Internal Affairs opened the meeting with an introductory speech, said that in the first half of this year positive results were achieved in the fight against crime, order and security were reliably ensured at mass events. International and republican importance and at the same time there were important tasks ahead and their detailed discussion, the activity of the service took into account the importance of identifying and implementing additional organizational measures to improve it.

According to the agenda of the meeting, the report and relevant speeches were heard.

It was noted that over the past 6 months, 18,518 crimes were registered in all state institutions that are the subject of operational-search and investigative activities, 94.5 percent of which were unlawful acts investigated by internal affairs bodies and the prosecutor's office in procedural order. Compared to the same period in 2023, serious and especially serious crimes 21.7, property crimes 11.4, thefts 38.9, mugging 10.3, robberies 41.3, juvenile crimes 27.4, previously convicted those committed by individuals decreased by 3.9 percent.

With the help of investigative actions and operational measures, 90.7 percent of crimes were solved, including 246 closed in previous years together with the prosecutor's office, 2,314 crimes were solved with the use of operational response measures, 4,407 unlawful acts were prevented, 79 percent of the wanted accused persons were arrested, 5053 firearms of various types were collected and found.

As part of measures to combat organized crime, 356, including 119 criminal groups that had committed grave and particularly serious crimes, were neutralized, and 179 persons who illegally kept and carried firearms were brought to criminal responsibility. Two tons and 844 kilograms of drugs were seized from the illicit traffic, and more than 296 tons of narcotic plants were discovered and destroyed.

It was emphasized that the implementation of important tasks in the sphere of reception and consideration of citizens' appeals is under constant control, in this regard, 2764 people were received with preliminary information in the media, and most of the raised issues have found their legal solutions.

Concluding the meeting of the board, Minister Colonel-General V. Eyvazov noted that during the reporting period the positive results achieved in the fight against crime, protection of law and order have been developed, and at the same time, drawing attention to the need to improve preventive measures, personnel training, educational process, gave instructions.

Emphasizing that ensuring satisfaction of citizens is one of the main tasks defined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev, he demanded prevention, disclosure of crimes, compensation of material damage. Appeals caused as a result of illegal actions should be considered and their reception should be treated with more sensitivity.

Referring to the state of the fight against drugs, he praised the active role and position of citizens in the positive results achieved in the relevant field in recent years, as well as the effectiveness of the relationship between the police and citizens, the reduction of crimes committed by organized groups and gangs, including the increasing rate of drug seizures from the illicit traffic, expressed satisfaction with his services, especially the daily increasing assistance of citizens.

Emphasizing that great expectations are placed on these relationships that serve to protect human rights and benefit society, the Minister expressed gratitude to each citizen for their continued support, as well as identified the specific responsibilities of the police to develop relationships for the benefit of society.

Also, having stated that preventive measures to prevent illegal actions of adolescents and young people have yielded positive results and a noticeable decrease in the dynamics of their illegal actions has been recorded, he demanded to increase the effectiveness of the work carried out in the direction of preventing the influence of harmful information broadcast in some segments of social networks on young people the future of the state and to protect them from harmful habits.

Strengthening of anti-drug propaganda conducted in the country, establishment of operational service activities to reduce the demand for drugs, expansion of specialists of state institutions, highly qualified teachers, the well-known representatives of the public involved in educational work and propaganda activities in educational institutions of the country and propaganda activities in educational institutions of the republicand he instructed to respond quickly to every relevant signal from schools and parents.

In his speech, the innovations applied in the last few years in the field of encouraging young people to study at the Police Academy, in particular, the Minister evaluated the activity of the working group created jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science, said that the number of applicants showed high results in the state exams, who liked the police profession and were physically fit, increased every academic semester. He appreciated the important role of this work in the training of modern police officers and gave necessary instructions to the relevant institutions of the Ministry for the systematic and connected continuation of the relevant measures.

He emphasized that the measures carried out in close cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office had also yielded important results, served to protect the legitimate interests of citizens and strengthen the rule of law, including the reduction of crimes, their serious and especially serious types, as well as significant progress was made in detection and investigation.

At the same time, paying attention to the reduction of previously convicted and group crimes, he praised the effective results of the work done jointly with the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice in this area.
