Analysis of the results of the activities of the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Republic to combat crime and ensure public safety in the first half of 2024.
In the first half of the year 2024, measures to combat crime and protect public order were purposefully carried out in the republic, the safety of citizens was reliably protected, and the criminogenic situation was kept under control.
In the reporting year, 18,518 crimes were registered in state institutions that are the objects of operational and investigative activities. 38.2% (7,078) of them were crimes in the economic field, 43% (7,966) were crimes against public security and public order, 15.2% (2,820) were crimes against personality, etc. are illegal acts. 85.4% (15,819) of the crimes were crimes that did not pose a great public threat and were of minor severity.
Compared to the 6th month of 2023, intentional serious damage to health by 17.5% (-25), thefts by 38.9% (-1444), robberies by 41.3% (-45), robberies by 10.3% (-4 ), drug-related crimes by 3.3% (-192), environmental crimes decreased by 14.4% (-24).
90.7% of the 17,492 crimes registered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor's office were solved with the implemented operational search measures and investigative actions. 88.6% of serious and especially serious crimes, 86.8% committed under non-obvious circumstances, 99.1% of crimes against the person, 95.3% of premeditated murders, all attempted murders, 99.3% of premeditated serious harm to health, 83.1% of property crimes, including 71.7% of thefts, 92.2% of frauds, 98.5% of robberies, 96.9% of mugging, 96.3% of extortions, all car thefts, and 97.9% of hooliganism were solved.
246 crimes closed from previous years, 1,889 crimes with "hot traces" were solved. The results of the search for the accused improved by 2% and reached 79%, 76 persons wanted internationally through the National Central Bureau of Interpol and the location of 35 persons wanted by the member countries of this organization were determined.
A total of 8,815 persons were arrested for various crimes, including 179 persons possessing and carrying illegal firearms, and 119 criminal groups committing serious and especially serious crimes were neutralized.2 tons 844 kilograms of drugs were seized from the illicit traffic. Drug plant with a total weight of 296 tons 437 kg (+153 tons 437 kg) was destroyed in the form of green mass.

In the 6th month of 2024, the capital's police achieved positive results in the fight against crime, protection of rights and freedoms of citizens and legitimate interests. Out of 17,492 crimes registered in the republic by Internal Affairs Bodies and Prosecutor's Office, 8,011and 45.8% were committed in Baku city, and 88.6% of them were solved. 83.1 per cent of these crimes are less serious and do not pose a great public danger, and 16.9 per cent are serious and especially serious.
Compared to the 6th month of 2023, intentional serious harm to health 10%, intentional minor harm to health 13.8%, theft 45.2%, robbery 37.1%, mugging 24%, car theft 2.7%, and corruption-related crimes decreased 42.5%.
85.1% of crimes committed under non-obvious circumstances, 99.3% of crimes against the person, 96% of premeditated murders, 98.4% of premeditated infliction of serious harm to health, all crimes of rape were solved.
Together with the prosecutor's office, 92 crimes were solved, including 28 serious and especially serious crimes, and 275 defendants wanted for similar illegal acts were arrested.
Crimes committed against foreigners were solved with a high rate of 84.2%.
