17.10.2024The Ministry of Internal Affairs held a board meeting dedicated to the work done in the fight against drug trafficking, the upcoming tasks related to the COP29 event and the results of the 9th month of the current year on October 17.
Minister Colonel General Vilayat Eyvazov, who opened the meeting with an introductory speech, said that the issues brought up for discussion cover such important areas as protection of life, health, rights and freedoms of people, as well as the tasks set in this regard with the COP29 event were consistently carried out on the basis of a special plan, and preparatory work for the event of international importance continued.
According to the results of the 9th month of 2024, it was noted that 89.8 percent of 24,586 crimes registered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor's Office were solved. Compared to the corresponding period of last year, serious and especially serious crimes, premeditated murders and attempted murders, premeditated serious harm to health, thefts, robberies, crimes committed with the use of information technologies and in a group, unlawful acts of minors and previously convicted persons were revealed. The number of incidents motivated by family conflict decreased by a total of 2,192.
84 percent of 6,703 wanted persons were arrested, 158 criminal groups of 390 people suspected of committing grave and especially grave crimes were neutralized.
4 tons and 81 kilograms of drugs were seized from illegal circulation, 5,735 people were detained for these actions.
The effectiveness of road safety and preventive measures has also shown its positive results: the number of relevant accidents has decreased by 173 facts, the number of people killed in road accidents - by 107 people, the number of injured - by 120 people.
Heads of relevant main departments of the Ministry reported on the issues on the agenda, the fight against drugs, encouraging young people to study at the Police Academy, training of personnel, improving their skills and professionalism, the progress of preparatory work related to the COP29 event and work done in other areas, the status of implementation of the tasks, the results obtained, told about the results.
Concluding the meeting, Minister V. Eyvazov emphasized that for 9 months of the current year the duties established by law to ensure public order and security were duly fulfilled, positive results were achieved in the fight against crime and protection of the population. Human rights and freedoms were preserved and developed in a number of directions during the reporting period. Due to the highest care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, professional personnel has been formed in the internal affairs bodies, infrastructure has been developed and modernized, relevant measures have been taken in special subdivisions. Targeted educational institutions of the Ministry, including the Police Academy, as well as construction of new educational buildings, dormitories, laboratories and other necessary facilities, significant progress has been made in selection of candidates for training in the fields of lawyer, criminalist, information security and other specialities, the number of high school students who wish to study at the Academy is increasing year by year, the importance of continuing the campaign in this direction, as well as the strengthening of the social protection of the Head of State's personal staff brought to attention the positive changes resulting from his attitude.
Referring to the increasing activity of citizens in preventing illegal actions, he noted that the positive trends observed in the fight against crime, transnational drug trafficking, ensuring road safety are a manifestation of the strengthening relations between the police and citizens day by day and this cooperation is used in the protection of fundamental human rights, everyone plays an important role in protecting the legitimate interests of the individual from criminal intent. The Minister expressed his gratitude to every person who has provided direct assistance to the internal affairs bodies and demonstrated a high position in the fight against crime - journalists, public figures, representatives of non-governmental organizations.
At the same time, the Minister of Internal Affairs stressed that the action analyzed and took into account fair and objective issues raised in the media, social networks and at receptions.
He also said that the positive results achieved in the fight against crime and ensuring order and security in the country do not reassure the employees of the Interior Ministry, and the personnel continue to fulfill their duties defined by the legislation in all territories of the country. Azerbaijan, which has fully consolidated its sovereignty and is trying to properly fulfill its public service functions. At the same time, the Minister of Internal Affairs stressed that the action analyzed and took into account fair and objective issues raised in the media, social networks and receptions.

At the same time, he emphasized the importance of removing cars illegally parked on the roadsides and obstructing the traffic, increasing the discipline of drivers, as well as generally strengthening measures in the relevant sphere within the framework of the ongoing work to eliminate traffic jams in the capital during the rapid growth of car use.
Referring to the shortcomings and deficiencies in the work of the service, he demanded to take the necessary measures to eliminate them, to be attentive to all appeals related to issues of concern to people, to ensure the satisfaction of citizens.
In conclusion, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov said that he is sure that the personnel will continue to cope with the responsible duties and tasks, and that they will not spare their strength and skills in protecting the stability and security of the country, the legal interests of the state and citizens from illegal acts.
