The Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Vilayat Eyvazov, held a meeting with his Georgian counterpart

13.06.2025

At the invitation of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Gela Geladze, has paid an official visit to our country.

On June 13, Mr. Gela Geladze and the accompanying delegation visited the Alley of Honor to pay their respects to the memory of the National Leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev.

On the same day, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Vilayat Eyvazov, met with the delegation led by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Gela Geladze.

Welcoming the guests, V. Eyvazov congratulated Gela Geladze on his appointment as Minister of Internal Affairs and expressed confidence that this visit would contribute to further strengthening the bilateral cooperation.
He noted that the friendship between our peoples has deep historical roots and that the relations between our states have always been of a strategic partnership nature. He emphasized that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the leadership of Georgia attach special importance to the further expansion of bilateral relations. Mr. Vilayat Eyvazov stated that these relations have been successfully developing in line with the political will of the heads of state, and have deepened further as a result of mutual visits by the state and government leaders.

It was emphasized that the cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs — particularly in combating all forms of transnational crime, including cybercrime — as well as the joint efforts in exchanging experience and information, and the established legal and regulatory framework, primarily serve the interests of our friendly and brotherly peoples and contribute to ensuring security in the region.

In addressing the challenges, it was noted that issues such as the illicit trafficking of drugs, international terrorism, human trafficking, illegal migration, and cybercrime remain at the center of attention, and that effective counteraction against them is only possible through joint efforts.

During the meeting held in a sincere and constructive atmosphere, a detailed exchange of views was also conducted on a number of other issues of mutual interest.

Mr. Gela Geladze expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, detailed briefing, and hospitality extended to him. He stated that his country’s relevant agencies are interested in further developing relations with the internal affairs bodies of friendly neighbor and close friend Azerbaijan, and that they will continue to spare no efforts in this regard in the future.

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Georgia to our country, Zurab Pataradze, participated in the meeting.
