 A regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the member-states of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Baku on July 20, 2018.
Delegations and chiefs of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the Republics of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Moldova, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Russian Federation, Executive Committee of CIS, the Bureau for Coordination of Combating Organized Crime in the territory of CIS member-states, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), and UN regional departments of Central Asia for combating illegal trafficking in narcotic substances, psychotropic agents and their precursors took part in the meeting. First of all, the guests visited the Alley of Honor where they laid a wreath at the tomb and paid tribute to the national Leader Heydar Aliyev. They also laid flowers at the tomb of famous ophthalmologist Academician Zarifa khanim Aliyeva.
The First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban khanim Aliyeva received the heads of delegations. The First Vice-President brought to their attention information on the reforms carried out in various spheres of the social and political life of the republic and the progress achieved, highly appreciated activities of the Council and wished success to its members.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of CIS member-states started later on the same day.
In his opening speech Chairman of the Council, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Colonel General of Militia Ramazon Raximzoda told about efforts made by his agency over the year.
In accordance with the Regulations of the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the member-states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, presidency of the Council was delegated to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 Then, Assistant to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for coordination with the law-enforcement agencies and military issues, Head of Department Fuad Alasgarov announced the President's address to participants of the meeting on the instructions of the Head of State.
He emphasized continuous efforts in combating crime in the territory of Council member-states, achieved positive results and at the same time the significant and important work for security of every country and wished new achievements in their activities. Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijani Presidency, Colonel General Ramil Usubov, recalled that the 25th anniversary of creation of the Bureau for Coordination of Combating Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crime in the territory of CIS will be celebrated on September 24 this year and congratulated the leadership and employees of the Bureau and wished them every success.
Director of the Department of the CIS Executive Committee General Lieutenant Albert Druzhinin and Secretary General of Interpol Jürgen Stock delivered their speeches at the meeting. The meeting agenda included priority issues of the cooperation among the Ministries of Internal Affairs of CIS member-states and implementation of the intergovernmental program of combating crime, the situation with exchange of information about persons involved in armed conflicts within terror groups, coordinated mechanisms of actions to prevent cybercrime in the territory of member-states, training of skilled specialists in this sphere, holding scientific and practical conferences and other urgent issues.
 Having expressed the position of our country in these areas, Minister Ramil Usubov emphasized an important role of such meetings held on a regular basis and devoted to current problems of combating crime in prevention of modern challenges and threats. He also shared information about the criminal situation and reforms carried out in the republic and noted that effective organization of crime prevention and detection activities as well as ensuring of public order and safety serve the interests of our countries and peoples. It is necessary to make more effective, targeted and consistent joint efforts to achieve these goals.
Heads of delegations shared their ideas on the agenda issues. It was noted that in the result of effective cooperation among the Ministries of Internal Affairs of CIS member-states hundreds of high-profile social crimes are resolved every year, cross-border criminal groups including extremist criminal groups and bands were neutralized, tens of dangerous criminals are extradited. Intergovernmental programs against illegal drug trafficking, terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism, illegal migration, and trafficking in persons and for combating crime take a special place in organization and implementation of joint coordinated activities in these spheres.

Decisions were made on all scheduled issues in a friendly environment of constructive cooperation during the meeting as well as holding of the next meeting of the Council in the capital of Uzbekistan, the city of Tashkent, next year was confirmed.
Then, the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on awarding participants of the meeting with commemorative medal “The 100th Anniversary of the Police of Azerbaijan (1918-2018)” and Colonel General Ramil Usubov presented the awards. Participants expressed their gratitude to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for appreciation of the work of the Council meeting and to the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the high level of organization of the event and warm hospitality.
Further, the heads of delegations answered the questions of journalists during the press conference.
