 The delegation led by the Head of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the city of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, police General-Lieutenant Sergey Umnov, made an official visit to our country by invitation of Minister of Internal Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic Colonel General Ramil Usubov.
On September 19, Sergey Umanov and his party visited the Alley of Honor where they laid a wreath at the tomb and paid tribute to the national Leader Heydar Aliyev. The delegation also laid flowers at the tomb of famous ophthalmologist Academician Zarifa khanim Aliyeva.

Minister of Internal Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic Ramil Usubov received police General-Lieutenant Sergey Umnov.

Having welcomed the guest, the Minister spoke with deep satisfaction of good-neighborly relations and strategic partnership between our countries in the result of the political will of Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Russian Federation Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin, mutual visits over recent years, meetings at the summit and conducted negotiations. In this context, the Minister mentioned the official visit of the delegation headed by Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Kolokoltsev to Baku in December of the last year, signing of the Memorandum of Mutual Assistance between the Ministries of Internal Affairs for 2017-2019, and organization of coordinated activities in various areas including detection of crimes, detention of wanted persons and their extradition as well as measures in the frontier zone.

The Minister stated that Azerbaijan is determined to further strengthen the relations with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation including the Main Department of MIA in the city of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, to extend the cooperation with the focus on personnel training and exchange of information and experience and voiced his confidence that this visit would prompt development of the bilateral relations.

Having expressed his gratitude for hospitality and detailed information, police General-Lieutenant Sergey Umnov emphasized that his department is interested in further development of the cooperation and expressed confidence in positive effect of this visit on achievement of this goal.
The parties also discussed a number of other relevant issues during the meeting.
Within the scope of the visit, Russian guests familiarized themselves with operations and areas of activities of the 102 Call Center and Safe City services of MIA.
