The Minister of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan Republic, the colonel-general Ramil Usubov has received the delegation led by the Commander of the Border Troops of Islamic  Republic of Iran, major-general Gasim Rezai being on an official visit to our country on March 9.
 
The Minister greeting the guests reminded existence of century-old relations between our peoples, and was pleased to state that the firm friendship and neighborhood relations founded by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev after Azerbaijan restored its historic independence were further enlarged by the presidents of both countries, the cooperation was increased to new, strategic partnership level in terms of quality in the result of the visit of Azerbaijan President Mr. Ilham Aliyev to Irtan on February 22-23, the negotiations he held and the documents signed there. It was noted that the results of the integration processes happening between our countries are manifested in all fields – economy, education, culture and other fields.
 
The Minister Ramil Usubov stressed that such meetings create great possibilities for unification of our efforts in combating transnational organized crime and international terrorism, the cooperation in combating all dangerous types of transnational organized crime, especially illegal turnover of drugs and smuggling has great potential, the necessity of determination of new directions, the institution led by him is interested in widening the bilateral relations.
 
Then the guests were provided information about existing political-social and criminogenic situation in Azerbaijan. The works done in the field of strengthening the state independence and democratic principles in our Republic, improvement of the mechanism of legal regulation of public relations were delivered to the attention and it was noted that the law enforcement authorities take complex measures against crime, as well as organized crime in mutual relations.
 
The major-general Gasim Rezai expressed thanks for cordial reception and detailed information and stated that he was pleased with the stability and peace created in the country. He noted that such visits, the signed documents are fully compliant with the interests of both friend countries and peoples having the same religion, similar culture and historic roots and this makes positive effects to deepening of cooperation in all fields, as well as in the field of law enforcement activities.
