March 2 – A ceremonial event took place on the occasion of presentation of the Colours to Military Unit #N in Gabala city of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Minister of Internal Affairs of the republic Colonel General Ramil Usubov took part in the event.
Having welcomed the Minister of Internal Affairs, Deputy Minister, Commander of Internal Troops Major General Shahin Mammadov reported to Colonel General Ramil Usubov on the military personnel readiness. The Minister saluted the military personnel and congratulated on this landmark event.
After one minute's silence in remembrance of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and victims who laid down their lives for the country, the event was declared open. The Minister of Internal Affairs presented the Colours to the Military Unit Commander according to a relevant decree of the President of the country. The Azerbaijan National Anthem sounded.

In his speech, Deputy Minister, Commander of Internal Troops Major General Shahin Mammadov touched on development of the Internal Troops and success achieved especially over the recent years. It was noted that the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs worthily discharge their duties and turned into a high-degree alert unit with adequate facilities and resources.
The Commander emphasized continuous execution of orders and instructions of the Head of State and the Minister of Internal Affairs for improvement of professional and combat readiness and stated that the military personnel will response to such special attention and care with worthy service, save the Colours fearlessly and selflessly, and serve the nation and people faithfully.
He also emphasized that just as our tricoloured Star and Crescent flag being a source of pride for our nation and state, so the Colours is a symbol of honour, conscience and courage for every soldier. Treating the Colours with respect and veneration is a sacred duty of every military man.

Then Minister of Internal Affairs Colonel General Ramil Usubov congratulated the personnel on behalf of President of the country and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and extended good wishes.
Colonel-General Ramil Usubov emphasized Heydar Aliyev’s special merits in formation of our Armed Forces and mentioned that the Internal Troops military personnel became one of the key forces in protection of territorial integrity, sovereignty and nationhood of our country safeguarding our national interests, internal stability, peace and order.

Mr. Ramil Usubov stated that the National Leader’s worthy successor, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev pays special attention and care to improvement of the activity and professional advancement of the Internal Troops as an integral part of the Armed Forces. As a result, today, the Internal Troops are capable of worthy performance of their combat missions.
He also mentioned that the Internal Troops became a mobile unit which is characterized by high professionalism and moral and psychological training, remembered the participation of President of the country and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in the opening of the new-built military town in the above mentioned military unit on September 22 last year and emphasized that the Head of State repeatedly visited the military unit, inquired about social and living conditions of the military personnel and gave every support to it that boosted the morale of military men and their irrevocable commitment to serve the nation.
It was pointed out that selfless labour of the military personnel in public order maintenance and performance of missions were always highly appreciated by the Head of the country, and service persons are honoured with various state awards.
It was noted that recently a number of targeted steps were taken for the improvement of logistics of the Internal Troops. Large-scale renovation and construction works were carried out in military units located not only in the capital in the Baku but also in regions including construction of new military towns and barracks as well as residential estates with all necessary amenities were put into service for officers and warrant officers.

In conclusion the Minister of Internal Affairs expressed gratitude to President of the country, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev for attention and care towards the military personnel and assured him that soldiers of the Internal Troops will always perform their duties and functions at the highest level and serve truly our people, country, state and President to justify the confidence reposed.
