The conference in the subject of “the Tolerance is the living norm of Azerbaijan society” was held in Zagatala region on February 21 by the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The chief of Zagatala DPD, the police colonel Arif Babayev opening the event with the introductory speech provided information to the participants about the works done in prevention of harmful trends propagating the religion, protection of moral and aesthetical values, radicalism, fanatism, intolerance and division in the city. it was specially stressed that the successful execution of the development strategy defined by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev under the leadership of Mister Ilham Aliyev the President of the country created useful conditions for obtaining great achievements in all directions of the social and political life by conditioning the democratic legal and circular state building in Azerbaijan. It was stated that protection of human rights and freedoms as well as freedom of consciousness and religious failth meets to international law norms.  

Then, the chief of department of the Head Office for Public security od the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rafig Gojayev, deputy Head of Executive Power of the Region, the chairman of the commission for religious affairs attached to the executive power Elman Ramazanov, the chief of the department for the North West region of the State Committee for affairs with the religious organizations Mehman Ismayilov, the chair of the religious community for the region of the Office of Caucuses Muslims Ibrahim Ibrahimov, the chairman of the City Elder Persons (grey beard) Council Boyukaga Mammadov and other persons delivered speech on the subject.
It was noted that as in all regions of our republic, in Zagatala region where various peroples lived in peace and in sincere conditions for ages, the constitutional right and freedoms of each person, as well as the religious faith and belief freedoms were fully secured, tolerant attitude was demonstrated towards all religions and nations.

It was further noted that the reationships between state and religious organizations are regulated by the relevant provisions of the Constituion of Azerbaijan Republic, the law on “the freedom of religious faith” and other normative legal acts. The responsibility was provided for in relevant articles in the Criminal Code and Code of Administrative Offences for law breaches that may arise out in religious basis. In respect to the execution of that plan, within the framework of mutual relations between the State Committee for Affairs with Religious Organziations and other law enforcement authorities, several concrete measures were taken in respect to prevention of illegal religious activities, separatist and extremist related actions, compliance with the requirements of the law of Azerbaijan Republic on "freedom of religious faith ".
